I must say, I've had an amazing Summer! Probably one of the best ones I've had in a really long time! I traveled to places I've never been before, and I revisited some places, hung out by the pool, had day trips with friends, ate good food...WHEW!!
Now it's back to the grind. Not that I haven't been grinding, but I took it easy this Summer, and did what I wanted to do. It's time to refocus, prioritize, and keep my son focused on his Junior year in High School...that in itself will be a chore.
With that being said, I've learned to never be afraid or ashamed to step back and take it easy for a minute. It's essential that we recharge ourselves so that we don't get burned out with life. When life changes happen quickly, it's easy to get lost and forget about taking care of YOU. I can speak for myself, as a single mother, I tend to make sure everybody else is ok, without making myself a priority. It's fine to admit that you need help once in a while. For so long, I had been conditioned to be "the strong one" that I didn't feel comfortable showing anyone my vulnerabilities. But it's fine to say that every once in a while, I NEED HELP!! Even if it's just to vent, or to go grab a bite to eat or a smoothie with a friend. I've come to the conclusion that even window shopping is therapeutic, thanks Jae - LOL!!!
The bottom line is, find someone that you can be vulnerable with. GET YOU SOME PEOPLE!!! (Yep...I meant it just like I wrote it). And don't be too proud to admit that you may need a counselor or a therapist to talk to. Just don't isolate yourself, because that's the last thing you need when you're feeling low, especially with the weather about to get cooler. Look up SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)...it's a real thing.
Until the next blog....take care of you!
